THESIS II

THE CHALLENGE

How might a phenomenon as well known as déjà vu be represented in print?

THE SOLUTION

Show, not tell: pages where the phenomenon is evoked through visual tools such as repetition.

These spreads were made as part of a larger publication examining liminality. The grid kept us consistent while leaving room to explore.

Repetitious forms, colors, type, and images across the 25 spreads of the section prompt the reader to stop and think: "have I seen this before?"

Reflections...

...patterned typography...

...and full-bleed images were used to help evoke the feeling of déjà vu. It is a purely human phenomenon—so it stands to reason all the images should contain elements of humanness.

Content was collected from a variety of sources. To maintain the flow of the book, we used endnotes for each section in lieu of footnotes.
